Downingtown Log House

Though it would easy to call this a log cabin, it is actually a house because it has more than one floor.

There seems to be a little debate on who actually built the house, but it wasn’t Thomas Downing. However, the Downing family owned the home for over 200 years so I think they made their stamp on being able to claim ownership. It is currently sitting about 70 feet away from its original location due to flooding and vibration from the road (it was a little too close to the highway).

Unlike most places I have researched for this site and for travel, the Downingtown Log House has very little in terms of claimed paranormal activity. For its age and the amount of renovations it went through I thought for sure there would be a famous shrew or farmhand lurking in the window. However, Downingtown is more worried about their tunnels than this house. The Twin Tunnels have multiple claims of voices, shadows, and even laughter.
