Trinity Church & Cemetery

Although the church itself has been rebuilt more than once (thrice) the graveyard has been around since the 1660s. The oldest legible headstone is dated 1681, and is of a boy named Richard Churcher

Skin Deep

It’s not much real estate for hundreds of years of burials. In the late 19th century, bodies started to be buried on top of older bodies that had started to decay. Gross, to say the least. Although there are only about 12,000 recorded burials, these records were not kept until about 1776. There are believed to be 125,000 bodies buried there. Some were only buried about 18 inches down and lime was used to help with the odor.

Paranormal Activity

Maybe it’s because of the age of this burial site, or maybe its because of all the celebrities buried here, or maybe it’s because of the sheer volume of bodies, but paranormal sightings are very common in and around the cemetery at Trinity Church.
